Research

Issue

Many craft beer bars change out whats on tap every week. Some beer lovers are always in search for new taste and flavor but take a risk going to a Brewery and not knowing whats on tap. Also those who are new to Craft Brew Beer have a hard time finding information on beers they might like.

Solution

Create an App that both helps Long time craft brew drinkers to find out what the new beers on tapp in their local area are, and to inform new craft beer drinkers about the possible teastes they can encounter.

Branding/Style

Type and Color

About The Logo

With the name choosen I wanted to reflect the feel of the application. Something related to beer, but not to obvious. I wanted to reward the viewer if they could notice the hints of beer terminology related to the logo.

Logo Explorations

Final Logo

This logo worked best out of all the others because it was recognizable and easily related to beer. The text, and logo work well to tell the message of what the application is about.

Putting The Logo To Use

Now that I had the logo, I wanted to incorporate it into the merchandise. Partly what makes my app different is the fact that you could scan the QR codes on the table top tents to collect points in the app and receive rewards. Form t-shirts to zip-up hoodies the prizes are always expanding, and updating.

Design

Approach

After doing the research I’ve come up with design goals that will help my Application Stand out. Create better UI by using bigger text, graphics and appealing photos of the products. Focus on finding the beers on tap, and the educational part of the app. Use more of the screen for the types of beer and information of a review/beer. Implement rewards system for users to obtain physical items. Keep scannable QR codes at bars to gain points that equal to physical.

Wireframes

I wanted the aesthetics of the app to be visually pleasing and fun to interact with. In order to that I designed around putting real photos of the beer on to the menu, and having them look as good as they taste.

What I Found

After drawing out a couple of wireframes I decided to recreate the ones I liked the most on Sketch. What I found was that I heavly focused on showing the visuals of the beer i forgot to test out how I was going to create the layout for the list of beers. So I started to create more layouts that had more text init inorder to provide the inofrmation I want the user to see.

High Fidelity

Search Screen

The search funtion is set up in a way that is comfortable, and familiar. All the user really needs to do is search the desiered location and the app will find it. Once the User finds a location the information of the types of brews on the menu along with the price and teaste wil be available to view.

Dictionary Screens

For these screens I wanted the backgroud of each of the catagories to reflect the colors you would see within the beers. Iw anted them to look apatizing and easy to fin I used a simple drop down chevron funtion to open information when its needed and not all at once in order to keep things minimal and clean.
